Getting Kids in the Garden

Published on July 26th 2018
The weather is hot, and the sun has been shining for weeks with very little rain. As the summer holidays approach, we parents try to think of ways that we can keep the children entertained and busy.
Here are a few quick ideas that you can try out:
Plant out Vegetables
There is still plenty of time to plant out certain vegetables and herbs, that can be ready by autumn.
Things like;
  • Radishes
  • Basil
  • Beetroots
  • Fast-maturing carrots (Nantes Frubund, Adelaide)
  • Fast-growing herbs (Coriander, Dill, Parsley)

Collect Dandelion heads
If your lawn is full of unwanted dandelions, why not make it into a game for the kids to play. See who can collect the most, or give them something as a reward when they collect a certain amount.
You don't have to put these to waste as there are plenty of things you can do with dandelion heads which can be another great activity to do with your kids!
