Monolena Overview

Monolena is a genus containing around 16 species from the Melastomataceae family, originating from South America. They are unusual perennial plants with a tropical feel, grown mainly for the leaves, they also produce pretty flowers, often pink. Many are epiphytic, growing without the need for soil substrate. Plant in a moist and airy potting medium if growing as a houseplant.
