Pasque Flower Overview

Pulsatilla vulgaris is a pretty perennial species with many common names, it resides in the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae. Typically it grows to around 20cm tall, with a clumping habit and finely divided foliage. Leaves have a soft, silky texture when young, maturing to a firmer texture in older specimens. Flowers are either upright or nodding in habit and purple in colour, leading onto silky fruiting heads. Grows best in full sun and well-draining soil, this species would suit a rocky or alpine garden.
