Common Butterbur Overview

Petasites hybridus is a herbaceous perennial species from the Asteraceae family. It produces small pink flowers on stems up to 40cm tall, which are popular with pollinating insects. The flowers appear before the leaves, in spring, they are large, rounded and can measure up to 120cm across. Commonly known by the names Common Butterbur, Butterbur and Pestilence Wort. This plant is dioecious, producing male and female flowers on individual plants.
