Harvesting

Seed pods can be harvested in autumn once they are ripe.

Propagation

Seed

Seed requires stratification before it will germinate. This can be done by sowing outside during mid/late autumn in a cold frame or by keeping the seeds in a sealed bag with vermiculite in the fridge over winter. Bagged seeds will need to be checked on regularly for fungal growth and germination. Once germinated, plant out into individual pots. They may require being grown in a glasshouse for their first winter after which they can be planted out in their permanent position.
