Forsythia x intermedia 'Spectabilis' Overview

Forsythia x intermedia 'Spectabilis' is a vigorious hybrid shrub cultivar. The hybrid origin is thought to be from a cross between Forsythia viridissima and F. suspensa var. fortunei. This cultivar produces huge amounts of deep yellow flowers in early to mid-spring, these appear on bare stems, creating a striking visual display. Foliage is oval to lance-shaped with toothed edges. Grows well in full sun or part shade and moist, well-draining soil. For optimal flowering, it is recommended to prune after flowering.
