Genus containing less than 20 hardy, herbaceous perennials also called rosinweed. Characteristic resinous sap is produced from the stems of species in this genus, it has a turpentine-like scent. Flowers resemble sunflowers, these are yellow and produced in branching structures, with flattened tops, called corymbs. Foliage is arranged oppositely or alternately, it is sometimes divided pinnately or toothed. This genus suits a wild or woodland garden.
