Hosta 'Sting' is a medium-sized perennial cultivar that forms mounds of thick, dark green leaves with a white flamed centre. In mid to late summer it produces erect stems of nodding lavender flowers.
Generally not harvested.
Divide clumps every 4 or 5 years in late summer or early spring. Ensure each section has 1 to 3 good buds and trim away damaged roots. Replant at their original depth in the ground with the shoots just poking through the soil. Water and apply a granular feed.
Collect seeds in autumn from dry seed heads, sow in Spring and place in a cold frame. Seeds are unlikely to come true.

This fantastic foliage plant is easily used for underplanting but it is equally grown in containers in urban courtyards and formal beds of cottage gardens.
