25 years to reach maturity
Archontophoenix is a genus of roughly 6 tall, unbranching, evergreen palm species native to rainforest habitats in Australia. Grown for their stature and overall appearance, species in this genus require temperatures above 15 degrees Celsius. They make nice specimen trees and if grown in temperate climates, do best sheltered under glass. These plants produce interesting, showy red-pink to creamy-white flowers that hang pendantly from the trunk, below the leaves. These palms are naturally found from Eastern Australia, ranging from the southern coast of New South Wales to the northern coast of Queensland.
