Sky Plant Overview
Tillandsia ionantha is an evergreen perennial species from the Bromeliaceae family. It produces tubular violet-blue flowers with yellow stamens, surrounded by narrow, white modified leaves known as bracts. This epiphytic species grows without the need for soil substrate. Foliage is linear and coloured silver-grey to green, when flowering the central leaves take on a red colouration. Commonly known as an Air Plant, it will require some attention with regular misting and soakings. This species loves sunlight, so it should also be kept in an area that gets adequate light throughout the day (east/west-facing windows are best). Soak once or twice a week depending on the environment, and regularly mist for best results. Water your air plants in the morning and make sure to shake off any excess water before setting them out to dry.
