Produces clustered stems with 4m long foliage, coloured rich green, leaves are are divided into distinctive fishtail-like, triangular leaflets and long, hanging panicles of small, greeny, cream to yellow flowers. These palms only flower once in their lifetime and typically die after flowering. However they produce multiple stems before doing so, growing with a clumping habit.
