Overview

A genus of annual and perennial plants in the grass family with a widespread distribution. They are usually mat-forming in habit with lance-shaped leaves and spikes of greenish flowers. There are a number of cultivars available, bred for attractive variegated foliage and varieties are also grown as lawn grass (‘buffalo turf’) in warm climates.
