An attractive sturdy long-lived shrub that can grow up to 3 m and is a popular and attractive erica for gardening. It has large tubular sticky flowers varying in colour. Usually dark red with yellow to green tips, with variations of paler pink. This is a strong grower, suitable for difficult gardens.
Cape Heath is generally not bothered by pests and diseases.
Flowers can be harvested and make lovely cut flowers.
Sow seeds shallowly, 1.5 times the size of the seed, in Autumn. Germination takes 3-4 weeks. Keep moist.

This water-wise plant does not require a lot of water but flourishes when watered regularly.
Heather can be grown in a container but should never be allowed to dry out in between waterings.
