This species will grow into a rosette form. The arching leaves are thin, smooth, pointed and are marked with red-brown lines. In late spring and mid autumn, a large flower spike of crimson or pink-tinted bracts overlap dense clusters of pansy-shaped, deep blue or purple-blue flowers.
