Eleutherococcus Overview
Genus with around 37 hardy, deciduous shrubs and trees. These are typically grown for their fruits and foliage. Flowers are small, green-white and borne in spherical clusters, leading on to black-purple berries. Originating from Eastern Asia, most species are found in China. Some species are utilised in traditional Chinese medicine, however there is a lack of evidence proving this and their effectiveness is under European medicinal review.
