Pachyrhizus Overview

Pachyrhizus is a small genus containing around 5 vining species from the Fabaceae family. This genus originates from Mexico to Venezuela and northwestern Argentina. Pachyrhizus plants produce large, often edible taproots and some are popular food crops. Pachyrhizus erosus is commonly known by the name Yam Bean, the roots are edible, however other parts of the plant are toxic and should not be consumed.
