Reed Overview

They are rhizomatous and are widely distributed in marshes and riverside habitats in temperate to sub tropical regions. They are vigorous, but less invasive than the unvariagated form, with robust stems bearing flat linear leaves up to 70cm long. The grey green leaves are striped golden yellow and then turn gold white in autumn. In late summer to mid autumn they bear plume-like spikelets of dark purple brown panicles.
