Common Mullein Overview
Verbascum thapsus is an erect, yellow-flowering biennial, also known as Great Mullein and Aaron's Rod. Its foliage forms a rosette of large grey, very hairy leaves in its first year. In the second year, it produces erect stems bearing a succession of light yellow, saucer-shaped flowers. Suitable for a dry position in a herbaceous border or a gravel garden, Verbascum thapsus prefers a poor, alkaline, well-drained soil in full sun. It is good for attracting bees and other pollinators.
