    This genus consists of 8 species of hairy, annuals or perennial grasses. They have soft mid-green or bluish green leaves and flat, linear or folded leaf blades. The flowers are produced in panicles of 2-flowered spikelets that are covered with glumes or scales and appear in the summer.
