House lime Overview

Genus with 6 perennial plants with distinctive foxglove-like flowers with 2 lips on terminal structures called racemes. These are a form of unbranched inflorescence with flowers produced from the tip on individual, short stems from a central stalk. Therefore the oldest flowers are located at the bottom of a flowering spike. Flowers are typically pink, white or a bicoloured combination and these often have patterned markings on the inner petal surfaces. Foliage is lobed or toothed, notably veined and covered in hairs.
