This genus, now included in Salvia, does not exist any longer. This taxonomic change occurred in 2017, where DNA evidence showed that members of the genus Rosmarinus were more closely related to Salvia. It includes the common herb, Rosemary (previously Rosmarinus officinalis, now Salvia rosmarinus). Prior to this reclassification, the genus Rosmarinus comprised five evergreen shrubs, cultivated for their aromatic leaves and attractive purple or white 2-lipped, tubular flowers.
