Ouricury Palm Overview

Syagrus coronata is a singled-stemmed palm species in the Arecaceae family. This plant originates from eastern Brazil, it is also known as the licuri or ouricury palm and it is typically grown, both for the fruits and ornamental appearance. It has pinnate leaves composed of many leaflets, these may be up to 5m in length. It produces yellow-cream flowers arranged densely in hanging clusters which may reach up to 2m long and lead onto edible, oval, orange-coloured, drupe fruits and licuri palm nuts.
