Gaura Overview
Species within the Gaura genus have recently been reclassified as belonging to the genus Oenothera. Please view that record. It used to contain around 21 hardy, annual and perennial species, some of which are quite short-lived. They possess underground rhizomes and tend to crowd out other plants. They produce delicate inflorescences coloured either pink or white, with 3 or more commonly 4 petals. These flowers have one plane of symmetry and long feathery anthers.
