Apodytes Overview

Genus of around 8 evergreen tree and shrub species distributed across tropical environments in northeastern Australia, New Caledonia, Africa and Asia. Species in this genus have simple, leathery foliage with smooth margins. They produce small white flowers with strongly reflexed petals that curl backwards away from the flower centre and long, conspicuous stamens, these flowers are borne on highly branched stalks. Leading onto drupe fruits coloured red or black.
