An upright, small bushy, herbaceous perennial with aromatic, silver green, ovate leaves and from early summer into autumn, slender, whorled spikes of tubular, two-lipped, fragrant lavender-purple flowers. Short lived so often grown as an annual. The flowers are attractive to bees and butterflies.
Cuttings are taken in autumn and overwintered under shelter, may be a wise precaution.
