Free-flowering shrub with spikes of deep blue flowers in summer. This fast-growing, grey-leaved plant is excellent for dry areas. It is rather short-lived but self-seeds easily or grow from cuttings. It makes a beautiful impressive eye-catching border plant in large areas, even when not in flower.
Generally not harvested
Seeds can be sown in situ or into trays in spring and summer.
Root semi-ripe cuttings in mid-summer, in a light seedling mix.
Attracts useful insects
Butterflies and bees feed on the flowers' nectar.
Can go for extended periods with little water.
Can provide a screen to create privacy.
