Everegreen perennial species that forms a rosette and grows with a tufted habit. Produces strap-shaped leaves measuring around 45cm long, these are attractively striped with white and green and coloured red at the base. Showy modified leaves termed bracts arise from the centre of the rosette, these are coloured red and surround small violet flowers.
