The cultivar Rosa 'Rhapsody in Blue' is also sold under the name Rosa 'Frantasia'. This cultivar is protected under intellectual property laws by Plant Breeders' Rights. These provide the breeder of new plants exclusive control over the plant material for a set amount of time. It is part of the Shrub Rose Horticultural Group, they possess thorny stems, big leaves and scented single or double flowers. It is a bushy shrub rose with light green foliage and highly scented, semi-double blooms coloured purple-blue. The flowers are cup-shaped, with spreading petals and they fade in colour with age, developing to a slate-blue shade. This cultivar has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
