Pea tree Overview
Genus of almost 100 hardy, deciduous small tree and shrubs originating from Asia and Eastern Europe. They are typically grown for their foliage and flowers and some species are spiny. Flowers are pea-like, yellow, white or pink and lead onto slim brown seed pods. Leaves are alternate, sometimes clustered and pinnate. Species tend to grow around 1-6m and can make good ornamental plants, or some species are favoured for bonsai cultivation.
