A small succulent annual with racemes of white blooms. It grows naturally on moist disturbed waste ground in partial shade but equally on dry sandy light soils. It's young leaves can also be eaten.
Sow spring or autumn in situ. The seed usually germinates rapidly.
In a cool acid soil under trees it usually self-sows freely and grows all year round
