    Asters Overview

    Genus containing over 100 clumping, herbaceous annual and perennial plants originating from North America mainly, with some species from the West Indies, Eastern Eurasia and Central and South America. Popular as garden plants, this genus has been introduced to much of Europe. Flowers resemble those of daisies, with central yellow or red disc florets and white, purple or pink ray florets. These are borne in dense clusters on upright, branched stems.
