A genus of 16 species of rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plants in the Rosaceae family native to temperate zones of the Northern Hemisphere. They have finely divided pinnate leaves and airy sprays of pink or white flowers on erect leafy stems. Commonly known as meadowsweet, cultivated species are grown in wildflower planting schemes where they prefer full sun and damp soil.
