Grewia Overview

Genus with around 321 species of deciduous or evergreen trees, shrubs or climbers. They originate from Australia, Africa and Southern and Eastern Asia and are found in a range of habitats. These are normally grown for their flowers and some species for their edible fruit. Flowers are small, with 5 petals, many more stamens and often showy modified leaves surrounding the flowers, which appear like petals due to their bright colouration. Commonly seen inflorescence colours are pink-purple, red, yellow and white.
