Umbrella plant Overview

Genus with 1 species, Darmera peltata, which is also known as Indian rhubarb and umbrella plant. It's a hardy, perennial plant with large, interesting foliage that displays autumn colours and attractive clustered, star-shaped, pink-white flowers arranged in a spherical flowerhead. Leaves are rounded, notably veined, lobed and connected to the rest of the plant through a stem attached to the centre of the leaf. Growth occurs through the use of rhizomes and this species is well placed next to water bodies.
