Indian Fig Opuntia, Barbary Fig, Cactus Pear, Spineless Cactus
Cacti species that originates from Mexico. This long-domesticated species is an important agricultural crop in arid and semiarid areas of the world. It produces edible fruits and copes well with limited water. This perennial shrub species commonly grows to between 3-5m tall and produces rounded and flattened, succulent stems. Flowers are only produced on mature plants, these are white, yellow or red and lead onto fruits coloured green to yellow to red.
