Gladiolus vandermerwei is a highly threatened species, occurring in the Ruens Renosterveld areas of the Eastern Overberg. This species has become a flagship species, highlighting the plight of one of the most threatened vegetation types in the world. This stunning plant co-occurs with a number of special plants in the Overberg and is a good indicator of this unique habitat. ZA Distribution: Western Cape.
