Acanthocereus is a genus containing around 14 succulent species in the cacti family, Cactaceae. Species are primarily sprawling or shrubby plants, often with distinctly angled, arching stems. Spines are thorn-like, short and stout. Mature fruits may have spines, they are red and contain large black seeds in a red pulp. The flowers are white and nocturnal and can be fragrant and have spines and scales.
