Californian pitcher plant Overview
Darlingtonia is a genus with just 1 species of carnivorous pitcher plant, called the California pitcher plant or cobra lily. It has tubular and forked leaves which look like a rearing cobra and consumes insects for nutrition. This plant is native to Northern California and Oregon and is naturally found in nutrient-poor, boggy habitats with cold, moving water. It can be kept indoors, but optimal conditions are hard to achieve and they are considered very temperamental houseplants.
