Donkey plant Overview

A genus of between 80 to 150 species of flowering annual, biennial, perennial plants or subshrubs in the borage family with semi-evergreen foliage and long, pendant tubular flowers. They originate from the Mediterranean region and Western Asia where they are found in arid habitats on sandy or rocky substrates. In cultivation they prefer a sunny site with well-drained soil and protection from Summer wet. They do well in rock gardens.
