Spartina grass Overview
Now included in the genus Sporobolus, Spartina spp. are commonly known as cordgrass and are found in coastal salt marshes. They are rhizomatous perennial grasses that are sometimes planted to prevent erosion and to reclaim estuarine areas for farming. Several varieties have been bred to have attractive variegated foliage for use as ornamental garden plants.
