Spathiphyllum cannifolium is an evergreen perennial species in the arum family, Araceae. Also commonly known as a Peace Lily, this attractive species produces lance-shaped, shiny leaves and white flowering spathes. Leaves can reach up to 50cm in length and around 20cm in width. Native to the tropical rainforest regions of South America, this species is an attractive foliage plant that tolerates neglect well. It is a popular houseplant due to its preference to a shady location, it adapts well to growing indoors but will flower better with increased light. It has also been found to absorb certain contaminants very effectively from the air.
