Onc. Overview

Oncidium is a large genus containing around 340 species of mostly epiphytic orchids (with some lithophytes and terrestrial) in the Orchidaceae family. These plants are native to South and Central America. Many species have clumps of pseudobulbs that each give rise to between 1 and 3 leathery leaves and panicles of typically orchid-like flowers in many colours and patterns. They are widely cultivated and many hybrids are available, commonly known as dancing-lady orchids after their characteristic flower shape.
