This subspecies of Clarkia rubicunda is an annual, found in the dry, open slopes of W. North American and South American terrains. Its spreading, funnel-shaped flowers, delicately coloured with pinks, make it a popular choice for annual borders and cut flowers. It is a fully hardy species, best grown in moderately fertile soil to encourage the growth of flowers (rather than excess foliage).
