Christmas box Overview

This genus, commonly called sweet box or Christmas box, comprises approximately 20 species of compact evergreen shrubs in the box family native to East and Southeast Asia. They are cultivated for their heavily fragrant flowers that are borne in the Winter and early Spring, followed by colourful berries. They prefer a shady position and a fertile moist, but well-drained soil but are especially useful as they can tolerate a certain amount of neglect.
