The genus Gomphostigma resides in the Scrophulariaceae family and is thought to contain 2 species. These are evergreen shrubs with narrow, stemless foliage which is reduced to needle-like, silvery-grey leaves. Flowers are small, white and possess 4 petals. They are borne in graceful clusters on arching branches and last from summer through to autumn.
