Coriaria spp.

Coriaria contains deciduous, rhizomatous, perennial shrubs and subshrubs. There are around 16 described species and they are usually grown for their fruits, foliage and in some species, their climbing growth habit. Flowers tend to be small and cream, green or red coloured. These form shiny black, red, purple or yellow fruits, which are considered ornamental. In some species these are edible, in others, poisonous, however the seeds are almost always considered poisonous.
