The genus Jamesbrittenia is part of the Restionaceae family of annual and perennial rush-like flowering plants. It contains around 83 perennial or annual, herbaceous or shrub species. Foliage is oppositely arranged and simple in shape or divided into many small leaflets. Some species are covered in hairs. Flowers are 5-petalled and pretty, in shades of pink, purple, red, orange, yellow and white.
