Nerve Plant Overview
Fittonia is a small genus containing 2 species of evergreen perennial plant from the Acanthaceae family. Originating from South America, they are found in tropical rainforest habitats. Commonly known by the names Nerve Plant or Mosaic Plant. They are mat-forming, creeping plants with rooting stems and strikingly-veined, often colourful foliage. The pink leaved Fittonia is particularly fun. In cultivation, Nerve Plants are usually grown indoors as houseplants but can be used as a groundcover plant in mild climates. They make excellent additions to a terrarium or indoor hanging baskets, enjoying ample humidity and partial to full shade for ideal growing.
