    Sweet Alison Overview

    A genus of 5 species of annual or herbaceous perennial flowering plants in the Brassicaceae family native to the Mediterranean and the North Atlantic Islands off the coast of Africa. They are low-growing, spreading plants with simple hairy leaves and clusters of small, fragrant star-shaped 4-petalled flowers. The most commonly cultivated species is L. maritima, grown as a border or rockery plant and now widely naturalised.
