Delphinium Magic Fountain Overview

Delphinium 'Magic Fountain Lavender with White Bee' is a compact, dwarf, perennial cultivar from the Ranunculaceae family. It produces spires of attractive flowers that are light to dark purple in colour, with white centres. Commonly known by the name Delphinium Magic Fountain, it typically grows to around 80cm in height. This popular cottage garden plant blooms from late spring to summer, from basal clumps of deeply lobed, dark green foliage. It may flower in the first year if sown early, sow late winter-early spring, from February in the UK. Seed germinates best following cold treatment, place seed in the fridge for a couple of weeks prior to sowing. Great for attracting butterflies and hummingbirds, so a perfect choice for nature lovers! May be nibbled by slugs and snails.

How to propagate Delphinium Magic Fountain


Sow seeds in late winter until early summer into trays filled with John Innes Seed Compost and cover with clear plastic, provide bottom heat and maintain temperature at 18-24C(65 -75F). Remove the cover when the seedlings appear, approximately in 2 to 3 weeks, Prick out into 7cm pots when large enough to handle. Plant out after the last frosts.
